Once used for storing and transporting olive oil, olives and other provisions, this striking Turkish olive jar carries with it a rich heritage and timeless craftsmanship.
Known traditionally as a botija or tinaja, it was hand-thrown from terracotta clay and features the classic rounded body and narrow neck designed to preserve its contents by limiting air exposure.
This piece shows beautiful age and character - subtle traces of glaze and timeworn patina tells its story of long use and care. With its twin handles and sculptural silhouette, it makes a stunning standalone statement or can be styled as a rustic vessel for dried branches or floor arrangements.
Alternatively you can turn it into a beautiful statement lamp by simply popping a lamp inside of the vessel. You can see how I did it HERE.
Our antique pieces have lived a life before reaching you, and with that comes a story told through their aged patina, worn textures, and natural imperfections. You may notice small chips, cracks, or variations in color—these aren’t flaws, but rather a testament to their history and authenticity.
